So its late. And I have 19 hours before I’m due to get on a train to Japan. My sister and my boyfriend have gone to bed and I’m mulling over a knot in my stomach that represents crossing some 9536 miles and 9 (?) timezones on my own. Taking 24 days… without an aeroplane and someone else in charge of delivering me to my destination on time and in one piece. I’ve finally gathered all my visas, at the very last minute, so less than 36 hours before departure I was just about reassured the trip would go ahead. The planning has not been trouble free… but more on that later. Champagne breakfast farewell awaits me in the morning, and I should make the most of the last real bed I have until St. Petersburg in 4 days time.
